"SYNCED" Contacts not being updated by RUS.
We are in the beginning of doing a phased approached installation of Exchange 2010. Currently we have a CAS/HUB installed and configured. We have noted recently that RUS on the 2003 side doesn't seem to be doing some of its former tasks. 1. Address lists are not updating. We are going to go ahead and convert all these over to 2003. 2. Contacts that are synced into our forest are not getting the legacyexchangeDN attribute completed. I have read KB951077 Support.microsoft.com/kb/951077 and it helped with a powershell command. There is a problem though. We sync millions of contacts daily and running this command at the top level eventually gets a memory issue. Trying to do it at sub OU levels works but is time consumming. Trying to figure out powershell command syntax maybe that could be used with the get-mailcontact to only get the ones that are missing the legacyExchangeDN value. This would allow us to perhaps setup a scheduled task. Wirrel

Hi Wirrel, Could you please provide more information of your organization configuration and topology? 1. What Address lists are not updating? All address lists or just GAL? Please let me know more symptoms you have noticed, and when did you first notice it. 2. What does it mean by converting all over to 2003? 3. You sync contacts between forests, right? What tool is used? and what is the trust between forests? 4. What mailbox server is used in the forest you sync contact? Exchange 2003? 5. What kind of contacts have lost LegacyExchangeDN? Mail-enabled contact, mailbox user? 6. Any Application event log recorded in the Exchange 2003 server? Thanks. Fiona Liao TechNet Community Support

Hi Wirrel, Could you please provide more information of your organization configuration and topology? 1. What Address lists are not updating? All address lists or just GAL? Please let me know more symptoms you have noticed, and when did you first notice it. All of the address lists 2. What does it mean by converting all over to 2003? I meant to say convert all over to 2010 3. You sync contacts between forests, right? What tool is used? and what is the trust between forests? Sync contacts using MIIS. They are actually pushed to us. There is not a trust. We have a domain that is only for mail-enabled contacts. 4. What mailbox server is used in the forest you sync contact? Exchange 2003? We have 2003 configured right now for a three different 2003 mailbox servers with three different DCs within the sync domain. 5. What kind of contacts have lost LegacyExchangeDN? Mail-enabled contact, mailbox user? Mail-Enabled contacts. 6. Any Application event log recorded in the Exchange 2003 server? I would have to scour the event logs to see if any are coming up but I haven't seen any except for the occasional duplicate contact ones we get at times. Wirrel
